What are the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)

The United Nations Sustainable Development Summit in September 2015 marked a significant moment in the global development agenda. With over 150 member states participating, the summit resulted in the adoption of the outcome document titled "Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development." This Agenda establishes and outlines goals to serve as an action plan for addressing the well-being of people, the health of the planet, and the promotion of prosperity.
This set of goals represents the successor to the previous Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and encompasses 17 overarching goals, each supported by a total of 169 specific targets. These goals are designed to guide nations and international stakeholders in their efforts to achieve a more sustainable and equitable world by the year 2030.
